TECHNOLOGY

In the motorsport category LMDh (Le Mans Daytona hybrid), innovative technologies for race cars are being tested. PORSCHE entered in 2023 and competes, for example, in the endurance race at Le Mans. With average speeds exceeding 300 km/h and driving even at night, lighting technology holds special significance.

Our team has thoroughly explored the unique demands of this vehicle class and the potential race tracks. We’re especially focused on the significant acceleration forces and vibrations, which call for a tailored design of the lights, along with the control unit and its associated wiring harness. Each component has been crafted with meticulous attention to detail, assembled with precision, and subjected to rigorous testing to ensure top-notch quality and reliability.

The project’s challenge lay in the incredibly tight timeline from development to finished, qualified lights. In such a scenario, smooth execution is only possible with a well-coordinated team. Efficient lighting technology, lightweight carbon fiber design, and a sophisticated cooling system enable a balance between weight optimization, durability, and performance.
